The film is a true story of the film's director and writer Mr. Milos Radivojevic's childhood and how his life was influenced by the people he grew up with. As a child he felt neglected by his communist family and was taken care of by a German officer, who occupied his home during the Second World War, and was the only person who offered him love and warmth during his childhood.
The film covers the recollection of main character Alex, who is now 67 years old, during the Second World War and soon after the war ended. Alex now lives a solitary life and estranged from people. One day an orphan girl called Romi, who is 6 years of age, is left in Alex's care but he decides not to look after her and instead drive her to an orphanage. During the drive to the orphanage, Alex tells Romi about his childhood, from the time of his accidental and unwanted conception in 1939 to age of eight.
